Our certified inspectors will determine the class of water damage. We apply our expertise and extensive knowledge to give you a thorough assessment. We our experience in assessing flood damage, sewage backup, and other water damage situations.
At this stage, we will give you an estimate on the time and cost that will be required to complete the restoration.
Certified technicians will begin the water removal process. This can include using submersible pumps to pump out standing water, as well as using truck-mounted vacuums and high powered, portable water extraction vacuums.
The length of time for this process depends on whether you had serious basement flooding, a burst pipe, or sewage backup.
After standing water has been removed down to the last puddle, we will determine if drywall and insulation have been damaged. We will also assess the condition of your carpet and padding to determine if it can be salvaged, or should be replaced.
If the drywall and insulation are soaked through, they must be removed. Otherwise, they can be a source of mold growth. The same goes for carpeting that has been underwater for any length of time.
The next step in the drying process is to bring in industrial air movers and dehumidifiers. We will monitor moisture levels to determine when the area is dry enough to begin professional cleaning.
We will work to preserve as much of your personal property as possible. As part of our cleanup services, we may remove upholstered furniture to the outside to allow it to dry in the open air, and clean it after it is dry. We will all clean hard surfaces as well.
We will perform mold remediation during this stage as needed, and dispose of anything that cannot be safely restored. We wear specialized personal protective equipment (PPE) for cleaning potentially hazardous materials, including N-96 respirators, protective gloves, and waterproof clothing.
Once all of the water is gone, everything is dried out, and we have cleaned and sanitized, it’s time to complete the water damage restoration process. This water damage repair involves replacing anything we may have disposed of, such as drywall, insulation, a drop ceiling, and carpeting.
The extent of the restoration depends on the extent of the damage. Some homeowners take this chance to upgrade a space with higher quality materials and a new paint color.
There are 3 classes of water damage. When we do our inspection and assessment, we will tell you what class your water damage is. They are:
This category of water damage does not pose a health risk; the source of this water damage comes from a sanitary water source.
Examples: Leaking water heater, burst water pipe, damage from rain water, etc.
This type of water damage can cause sickness and contains contamination. This type of water damage can contain unsafe microorganisms.
Examples: Over flow from toilet bowls with some urine, broken aquariums, leaking washing machines.
This type of water damage is contaminated and contains pathogenic and harmful substances. This type of water damage can cause severe negative reactions.
Examples: Sewage, groundwater, and rising water from streams.
All categories of water damage can lead to mold, mildew, and other pathogens if not dealt with quickly.
